Breaking up cell clusters

Cell sample preparation for FACScan analysis and for isolation of primary cell cultures.
Usually, I use Greiner 50 ml tubes (and other GBO plastic) and EASYstrainers ideally fit them. It’s more user-friendly than BD Falcon cell strainers and a little bit cheaper. BD Falcon cell strainers are also good in work, but it’s easy for me to order Greiner in Moscow via Biolab Company and delivery is faster than others analogs.

The use of the EASYstrainer is an easy way to create a homogenous cell suspension without lumps before doing cell assays e.g celsorting/flow cytometry. Because it’s a sterile device, you can culture the cells afterwards.

We filter cells during purification
The filters are very easy to use and we never had a problem about them. We use them mainly in cell purification. Thanks to the technology, filtration is easy and I highly recommend this filers. Regarding the price, it's reasonable.

With EASYstrainer cell strainers, Greiner Bio-One offers an innovative and user-friendly solution for the filtration of cell suspensions. The EASYstrainer can be used, for example, after enzymatic tissue digestion for primary cell isolation or for cell preparation prior to flow cytometry. The large cell strainers fit on all conical 50 ml tubes and are available with mesh sizes of 40, 70 and 100 μm. EASYstrainer Small fits 15 ml tubes as well as smaller tubes and reaction vessels. It is available with mesh sizes of 20, 40, 70 and 100 μm.
The stackability of EASYstrainers with different mesh sizes allows for the separation of cells with different sizes in one step. In addition, the upper part of EASYstrainer Small can be inverted. This allows retained cells to be rinsed out for further use.
EASYstrainer makes working aseptically much easier: It can be held via a surrounding rim or a handle in order to avoid accidental contact with the sterile filter material. Additional safety is provided by the transparent blister packaging from which the strainers can be conveniently and aseptically removed.
A special feature of EASYstrainer is the venting gap that remains between strainer and tube. The gap ensures that air in the tube can escape quickly during filtration. Liquid accumulations between strainer and tube or even an overflowing of the strainer are thus reliably excluded. These effects observed with conventional cell strainers are a thing of the past with EASYstrainer.
