I was really impressed with how easy this instrument was to use and even more so with its performance. I was able to evaporate 20 ul off my RNA samples in 2 minutes! And every well of the 96 was exactly the same. The consistency, reliability and speed make this product so much better than a traditional speed-vac. This type of instrument is typically used to concentrate chemicals or other hardy materials, so I was concerned at first to use it with RNA. However, the heating function is not required, and it is so fast that the RNA did not have time to degrade. The one area I would be careful with is how quickly the air is used. I found that I did not need to use the bottom blower when evaporating RNA because we were not using heat.

Evaporex (EVX) is purpose-built for high-performance drydown of microplates for drug discovery and research applications. EVX’s two stainless steel needle assemblies evenly distribute heated gas into microplates from both top and bottom minimizing drying time. Thus, saving time in the discovery process. The upper gas flow path is sealed away from the heating elements in a stainless steel pathway preventing sample contamination. The lower platform adjusts to allow the needles to come in close proximity to the sample – without touching.
