Centrifugation - cell culture
This is a very competent piece of equipment and does exactly what you want from a routinely used centrifuge. The controls are easy to use and take very little training. toggling between RPM and RCF means that there is never any confusion when using protocols that state one or the other. Rapid temperature control is essential when different users need either chilled samples or ambient temperature. When I run discontinuous gradients, being able to set the acceleration and deacceleration rate enables me to get optimum separation of cell types. The centrifuge has an auto-open lid feature, though I have never used it for some it could be useful. For me the main reason for using it is its capacity, I also use the GT1 centrifuge but there are times the large capacity is essential. The centrifuge has biocontainment lids that are easy to fasten and remove and are important when handling human samples. The rotors, inserts, and centrifuge bowl are simple to clean and ensure that safety is maintained.
