Great instrument but it has some room to improve

Average Rating 3.3

Application Area:

Protein aggregate

We have the first generation Nano instrument and it's a little hard to operate it. The oil leaks every time and this leakage actually makes a hassle when changing flow cells. It makes us reinstall all the apparatus whenever changing them. And focusing on this instrument ain't easy (This guy only offers a manual focusing). It requires some level of skills and experience.

Manufacturer's Response

Dear Dr. Kim, Thank you for your valuable feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the challenges with the instrument, and our Customer Care team is currently working with you to resolve these. We would also like to let you know that we’ve improved ease of use and incorporated autofocus capability in our recently released second-generation FlowCam Nano. Sincerely, Yokogawa Fluid Imaging Technologies

FlowCam® Nano offers dynamic image analysis for submicron particles ranging from 300 nm to 2 µm, bridging the gap between traditional flow imaging microscopy and other particle analysis methods. Designed for early detection of aggregates and contaminant monitoring, it is ideal for applications such as protein formulations, nano-drug delivery systems, bacterial characterization, bioprocess monitoring, and advanced materials research.

As a specialized flow imaging microscope for submicron particle imaging, FlowCam Nano features advanced optical imaging technology that enables detailed morphological analysis of the smallest particles observable by light microscopy. Detect submicron protein aggregates, small oligomers, and drug delivery vehicles such as LNPs and exosomes to improve product stability and quality—well before larger particles become an issue.

Key Benefits

  • Identify early API aggregate formation and sample degradation prone to creating larger subvisible and visible particles.
  • Capture high-resolution images to detect and classify submicron particles for product development and quality monitoring.
  • Analyze size, morphology, and concentration of particles too small for traditional flow imaging microscopy techniques.
  • Leverage integrated VisualSpreadsheet software to image, classify, and characterize nanoparticles in real-time with an intuitive interface.
  • Work efficiently with disposable flow cells and autofocus technology for ease of use.

Specifications

  • Particle size range: 300 nm to 2 µm using oil immersion and 40X magnification.
  • Minimum sample volume: 100 µL.
  • Sample flow rate: Up to 25 µL/min.
  • Camera: High-resolution monochrome.
  • Compatibility: Designed for use with aqueous solvents in native buffers.
