Hemostasis
Easy to use. PFA200 alows rapid and global evaluation of primary hemostasis on wole blood. It replaces bleeding time which is not recommended. It is a reliable and useful tool for detection of functional inherited and acquired platelet disorders, screening of von Willebrand disease and for monitoring of anti platelet therapy. Several pre-analytic variables affect PFA test result: plasma von Willebrand factor, citrate concentration, ABO blood group and time of blood collection. By standardizing pre-analytic conditions, thePFA test is reproductible.

Clinical Hemostasis testing
This analyzer hasn't had 1 downtime in 3 years of operation. We use it for platelet function testing as a screen for bleeding disorder detection before specific major surgeries. The only drawback is the packaging of the cartridges. We run a limited amount of these tests and a smaller package option would allow us to have less waste of an expensive consumable. Reproducibility has been good for our analyzer. Maintenance is very minimal.

The INNOVANCE PFA-200 System provides simple, rapid, qualitative, and precise automated assessment of platelet function and supports clinically relevant decision-making processes effecting therapies. The system quickly measures platelet plug formation in a small whole blood sample (800 μL) and reports a ”closure time” in 5–8 minutes.
