Extremely bad quality, they do not know how to do sequencing!
Sanger Sequencing
Since GATC was bought by Eurofins the quality of the Sanger sequencing went completely down. Normally we do not get usable results when we send for sequencing PCR products. Some times we get some inconsistent results for plasmid sequencing. Frequently runs are below 400pb with a lot of noise. Samples submitted to Mycrosynth gave us perfect results (more than 1000pb, clear sequencing histograms). In summary, I do not recommend to use this service anymore. Finger wag! they are not serious about what they are doing!

Very effective services. We use the Lightrun tube service, unfortunately we are not near a GATC pickup point but we use the free postal service. Although it takes slightly longer using this for delivery to GATC, we still get the results very quickly once they receive it. We have never been disappointed with the service, sales or results. Always great.

plasmid and PCR product sequencing
Product quality variable: mostly great, but mislabeling and sample mix-ups have occurred. Delivery times are a big problem - very often slower than advertised. After sales care sometimes very responsive, sometimes compound the damage by additional mix-ups. Big drawback: you pay for a large number of sequencing reactions in advance, to use over a period of time. If the service is then not provided as promised, which it often is not (mostly delivery time-wise), there isn't much you can do, because you are stuck with a batch that you'd already paid for. That said, their sequences are very long and clean, for the most part.

Generally good sequencing results, but results may be delayed sometimes.
Sequencing of cloned genes
Sequencing results are very reliable for column purified DNA. However, DNA extracted by alkaline lysis without column preparation is not sufficient, which reduces versatility of the product. Delivery of sequencing results is sometimes delayed by a few hours. Rarely, results are delayed by a day without notification. Considering the low costs, I would still recommend the product.

The GATC lightrun barcodes are very easy to handle and the results are amazing. GATC manages to get your sequencing results on the next working day. This means you have your plasmids ready on one day and directly on the next day in the morning you have your results, which is really amazing. The support is incredible, they always reply really fast and have valuable solutions to problems.

Service is easy to use but data quality in recent months has been very poor.
ANALYSING CLONING PRODUCTS
The sequencing barcodes are very easy to use and sample pickup and return of data is always rapid. However, we have recently found that the data we are receiving is of poor and inconsistent quality. We regularly receive very short reads yet when we resend exactly the same sample, we get good quality data, indicating that the quality of our sample is not the reason for the poor data. This is frustrating and wastes a lot of lab time.

Poor reads often a problem
Sequence Plasmids
LightRun is easy to use, has quick return and is relatively cheap per run. However reads often come back poorly even with a primer regularly used and known to be appropriate. There is also no way to contact the company to identify what went wrong with LightRun as it's an automated process. I have tried SupremeRun for things that keep returning poor reads but feedback from the customer service team has also proved unhelpful. Please improve LightRun reliability!
