Conducting topical pesticide bioassays on agricultural pests
To assess pesticide toxicity and resistance we needed to accurately and repeatedly place one microliter aliquots of different solutions on insect larvae. The WPI syringe pump with digital display option teamed with a 100 microliter SGE syringe proved highly effective. The stainless steel frame of the instrument makes it exceptionally stable without sacrificing its small footprint, and the micrometer mechanism is precisely engineered and gives a very high level of precision and repeatability. The digital display makes operation simple once the instrument is calibrated to individual syringes, and despite extensive periods of use we haven't yet needed to replace the battery. The instrument is very reliable and we haven't needed any after sales support at this stage, however the Australian sales representatives for WPI were extremely helpful when we were initially choosing a product from their range. For biologists needing a solid and reliable microapplicator system this instrument represents a very worthwhile investment.
