Maxwell® FSC Instrument
Benchtop Instrument for Automated DNA Extraction from Casework Samples
The Maxwell® Forensic Sample Concentrator (FSC) Instrument is a platform for automated purification of nucleic acid from a range of casework sample types. The purification methods use sample lysis and binding to paramagnetic particles as the primary separation principle. The instrument provides preprogrammed purification methods for use with DNA IQ™ chemistry, an improved magnet and plunger design and better spin baskets to process up to 16 samples in roughly 30 minutes.
The Maxwell® FSC Instrument is controlled by a graphical user interface running on a tablet PC. The instrument is supplied with a handheld bar code reader and integrated software that allows for extracted nucleic acid quantification measurements to be captured in the run report along with sample tracking and method run data. Data transferred to a PC can be uploaded to a laboratory information management system (LIMS).
