Great instrument!
Identification and sensitivity capable for microorganisms
I love the Microscan walkaway plus system 96. I love that it is easy to use, maintenance is a breeze and results are fast and reproduceable. The key selling point is that if something should happen to the computer or the power goes out, we do NOT lose any of our results. All panels are able to pulled off the analyzer and read manually. This is wonderful. We don't lose any time and the patients get their results faster as well.

Terrable service

The MicroScan instrument is not what i expected. I still have an electrode that does not detect a level of a reagent. Service has been out several times and has not corrected the problem; my staff just deals with it. I have found that the service is really terrible. We have changed service techs several times.

Organism identification/AST’s
We just recently purchased the new WALKAWAY 96 plus. We replaced our much older walkaway. The precision was amazing as our QC worked everyday for 30 days. We validated the AST’s with our old analyzer, running 20 each of most organisms. It did above 98%. We also had to validate with or new MASS SPEC. That was a really good validation for identifications. We love the new machine. The reagent drawer rather than a door is a big success. We aren’t having issues with any part of this machine. It’s a work horse and it is a machine we love and rely so heavily on. Once we get approval, then every tech at any computer terminal will have access to the walkaway’s software. That will help us immensely for filing AST results. The new Microscan 96 plus has also played an integral role in our CARB. RESISTANCE. We are using the newest CLIA breakpoints, and it’s reliability lets us know we can trust the results again and feel more confident in reporting our results.

The walkaway 40 plus is a very reliable instrument. It rarely breaks down and when there is a problem the service response is always fast and the instrument is fixed the same day. The Labpro software is amazing! It is updated with the latest CLSI recommendations/ regulations. I would never use another company for my ID and MIC!
