Nafion is used as a binder in wide range of applications such as batteries & supercapacitor
Nafion is a sulfonated tetrafluoroethylene-based fluoropolymer–copolymer with conductive properties. Owing to its hydrophobicity nature, making an effective matrix to disperse graphene in an aqueous solution. Moreover, Nafion acts as bio affinity layer to product the electrode material in electrochemical sensor application. Its biocompatible nature helps to retain sensitive and reproducible results in the sensor application. Nafion-based composites with dual sensing and actuation capabilities provide prospective options for the development of future transduction devices, particularly as a possible passive sensing technology. Ion channels inside the cell membrane created by membrane proteins, similar to the ion channel-induced transduction process inside Nafion membranes, allow particular ions to flow through the channel pore, accomplishing tasks such as signal transmission and stimulus detection. As a result, Nafion-based composites have a lot of potential in biomimetic applications.
