Ultra Low Freezer Storage
Our lab recently purchased 2 new Stirling Ultracloud -80C Freezers for our lab and so far they have been great. One did have some issues right at delivery but Stirling sent people out right away and replaced the faulty board, which was probably damaged during shipment and delivery within the first week and since then no issues. It has more storage then our old -80C and is energy star certified so our university had rebates and its nice to be more sustainable. Overall we like it and the extra storage is a huge plus for us. You just plug it in and it's pretty much ready to go.

-80 Storage
I would give a zero star if possible. Do not ever consider this product. We paid a 30% additional cost to purchase this freezer (compared to their competitors). The freezer arrived, plugged in, stayed at 28C! This is a self-proclaimed highly efficient -80C freezer. Called customer service, waited days to even get back. We requested the replacement of a brand new freezer, waited another month, and the only options were: 1. Repair the freezer, 2. Return product to Stirling. As part of the return, there is a 20% restocking fee plus the shipping costs (both of which is the responsibility of the PI). Nowadays, companies are entitled to sell you defective product and force you to take them. Why would anyone pay for a defective product for full price? Never ever try dealing with them.

The Stirling Ultracold freezer is effective at freezing tissue and RNA samples.

The Stirling Ultracold freezer is very effective for freezing tissue and RNA samples at -80C. It has a built in alarm that is very sensitive and alerts us to a problem if the freezer differs by even one degree. The only downside is that the handle gets loose if opened frequently but this can be rectified by periodically tightening the bolts. The freezer is reasonably priced and is aesthetically pleasing to look at in the laboratory.

Great Freezer. Worth every penny.
Diagnostics
The Stirling Ultracold is an excellent freezer. We have had it for two years now and it has been great for us. Keeps -70C even when I am accessing our frozen stocks frequently through the day. It is also very quiet as well. Our maintenance department likes that it uses less power than a standard freezer. I would recommend this freezer to all labs.
