We purchased a new URC II Control unit for our Parker laboratory reactor in 2021. It is a very ergonomic unit, saves space in the lab. It also fully digital and has reading outputs to a PC or a laptop for data recording. It is fairly easy to use, there is a small manual that comes with it that explains how to set it up. We wish it would allow us more flexibility in changing process parameters on a fly or program a gradient heat profile but it doesn't have these features. It does what it was made to do, controls process parameters of the reaction with a good level of accuracy and provides readable outputs. We wish the screen saver would come on automatically and the numbers on the screen would be larger but it's not too bad. The service is helpful and the questions get answered within a somewhat reasonable time. It would be better if more features would be available for the price of the unit but it is working consistently without serious issues thus far. It is a reliable unit overall for a basic reaction profile control and csv files data logging.

The URC II provides the operator with a concise point of control for all processes related to a reactor system. The unit controls and monitors the reactor’s external and internal temperatures, the speed of the mixture, and the pressure within the reactor.
