Whatman® GD/X syringe filters
The GD/X filter contains a unique prefiltration stack of 100% borosilicate glass.
Filtration of difficult high solids samples for Water/Wastewater. Metals, IC and Colorimetric anal
The GD/X line of syringe filters are high quality and are a strong offering by GE/Whatman. These syringe filters work by stacking multiple porosity filters in one housing. This allows much easier filtration of high solid samples than single PES or Nylon filters. They cost more but on difficult to filter samples you have to use at least 4 normal syringes to get the same volume as 1 GD/X syringe filter. This gives a net cost savings and saves time. GD/Xs also help prevent hand and wrist injuries and save the environment through less plastic use.

The GD/X filter contains a unique prefiltration stack of 100% borosilicate glass. The prefilter will retain fine particles down to 0.7 μm, allowing difficult sample filtration with less hand force.
The volume of the sample filtered is 3-7 times greater than an unprotected membrane. PP housing. Syringe filters can be autoclaved.
Membranes:
- Cellulose Acetate: for biological solutions, high-loading capacity, and low-protein-binding
- Nylon: for aqueous and aqueous organics
- Polyethersulfone: for serum, plasma, and tissue culture solutions
- Polypropylene: high flow for aqueous and organics
- Polysulfone: low-protein-adsorption for serums and plasma
- PTFE: chemically inert, will stop aqueous aerosols in gas streams
- PVDF: the most suitable membrane for HPLC
- Glass microfiber: borosilicate with high-load capacity
Suitability
Suitable for filtering environmental and food analysis samples. Suitable for particulate laden sample preparation.
