The XSelect column really is my go to column for standard analysis.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Analysis of indoor air quality samples

One of the first and crucial analysis of our lab is to analyze air samples. We analyze formaldehyde and acetaldehyde using the DNPH method. Other C18 column did give the desired resolution, whilst the resolution on the XSelect HSS C18 was significantly optimized. We still get some co-elution with some unknown component, but integration with our software helps with this. The column is perfect, and my go to for method development. One problem I had was when the cap of the broke and blocked one of my column. I don't really know if this is rare or not but maybe the material for the caps can be enhanced to prevent them from breaking. This surely doesn't hold me back because for me the XSelect is the most reliable column. I just love the ease in use.

Good return of production, robust column.

Average Rating 4.0

Application Area:

Analysis of pesticides in vegetable matrices

The column is very robust for use with numerous complex and simple matrices. With adapted pre-columns, they are used 24 hours a day for several weeks. Well resolved peaks and better retention of small polar molecules than some other C18 columns.

A good value for purifying diverse compounds

Average Rating 4.7

Application Area:

Compound purification

I have found this to be a surprisingly versatile column for purifying a variety of compounds with masses up to 1500. Perhaps not the best polar compound retention but that's why there are other choices too. This product appears very well made, has withstood some abuse but otherwise has a fairly good service life. The price may be somewhat higher than comparables from other manufacturers but I think it is still a worthy choice.

XSelect columns are perfect for peptide analysis

Average Rating 4.3

Application Area:

Peptide purification

We bought two XSelect columns for analysis and purification of our compounds. XSelect columns are perfect for our use and help us to purify our peptide. Until today, we have not found the equivalent in terms of quality!

Great columns!

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Peptide purification from biological samples

The Waters XSelect line of columns are easily some of the best columns I have used for separations of peptides. The columns give reproducible results, can be effectively used under a wide range of conditions, and effectively separate almost everything I've attempted. The service by Waters and by the sales team was also top notch - they worked with me efficiently and were helpful in finding me the best column for my application. Thanks, Waters!

A must for any organic chemistry lab.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Analyze small molecules and peptides from organic synthesis

The column is easy to use and maintain. Results are perfectly reproducible and most of the peaks can be separated with high resolution. After-sales care is quick and brilliant. The price is reasonable for the high quality of the product.

Particle Technologies
Waters offers XSelect HPLC columns with Charged Surface Hybrid (CSH) and High Strength Silica (HSS) particle technologies.

Based on Waters patented Ethylene-Bridged Hybrid (BEH) particle technology, CSH particles incorporate a low-level surface charge, designed to improve sample loadability and peak asymmetry in low-ionic-strength mobile phases, while maintaining the mechanical and chemical stability inherent in BEH particle technology.

Advantages of CSH Technology include:

  • Superior peak shape for basic compounds
  • Increased loading capacity
  • Rapid column equilibration after changing mobile-phase pH
  • Improved batch-to-batch reproducibility
  • Excellent stability at low pH

HSS technology was developed specifically to complement the chromatographic performance of the more hydrophobic BEH and CSH particles. When compared to ethylene-bridge-containing BEH and CSH particles, the higher silanophilicity of the 100% silica HSS particle offers significant advantages including increase polar compound retention and significantly different selectivity. Additionally, the HSS particle possesses the mechanical strength necessary to tolerate UPLC pressures. The HSS particle is the first and only 100% silica-based particle designed, tested and intended for both HPLC and UPLC separations at up to1034 bar.
