Automated Analysis of Proteins Using the LabChip GX System

In this application note from Caliper Life Sciences an assay and microfluidics platform are used for protein analysis as an alternative to SDS-PAGE. Carbonic anhydrase samples were prepared at concentrations between 2000 ng/μL and 2.5 ng/μL and the resulting electropherograms were superimposed to illustrate separation sensitivity and reproducibility. E.coli cells were used to over express a ~40 kDa protein. E. coli proteins were analysed at various stages of the protein expression process in whole cell lysate, soluble and insoluble lysate fractions and Ni bead purified samples.
