Characterization of Heparin Binding to Tau Protein via CG-MALS

13 Mar 2017

This application note investigates the interaction between Tau, a protein that forms insoluble fibres found in the brain tissue of Alzheimer’s patients, and heparin, a glycosaminoglycan that induces tau filament formation. CG-MALS is used to determine the stoichiometry and equilibrium association constant for the heteroassociation of a tau fragment and a low molecular weight heparin fragment. This article demonstrates how CG-MALS, implemented with the Calypso system, provides a simple and rapid way to characterize interactions macromolecules.
