Detailed Characterization of Essential Oils by Flow-Modulated GC×GC–TOF MS with Tandem Ionization

16 Aug 2016

This application note describes the use of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) with BenchTOF time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS) and Tandem Ionization for characterization and comparison of the composition of essential oils, aiding rigorous quality control. Essential oils are extremely complex and present analysts with a significant challenge when it comes to quality control. Traditionally, gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry has been the standard method for analysis, however, in recent years, comprehensive two-dimensional GC×GC with TOF MS has become an attractive technique for characterization of essential oils.
