Detection of mastitis pathogens in raw milk of symptomatic cows

Application note on detection of mastitis pathogens in cows

3 Oct 2019

In this application note, Analytik Jena has described a method for detecting different pathogens using its new product qTOWER3. Extraction of bacterial DNA has been a challenge due to diversity of ingredients found in milk, such as fat, sugar and protein. A special extraction kit is usually recommended to optimize extraction of DNA. This application note mentions the Mastit 4C Kit by DNA Diagnostic. Identifying symptomatic cows and isolating them is the only way to prevent pathogen spreading and therefore this method could be a valuable resource in the milk farming industry.
