Determination of Ammoniac and Moisture Content in Salts

Ammonia can be chemically stored in cartridges of hygroscopic salts. The cartridge production process requires first drying the salt to reduce its moisture level below 0.1 % and then saturating it with ammoniac. Both moisture and ammoniac saturation levels are key parameters to controlling the process. In this application note, ABB Analytical Measurements illustrates the use of the ABB FT-NIR technology as a simple, fast and precise way for offline or online assessment of moisture and ammoniac content in the salt formulation.
