Determination of Iodide and Iodate in Soy- and Milk-Based Infant Formulas

7 Feb 2013

Iodine is an important micronutrient involved in the regulation of many key biochemical reactions, so its concentration in iodine-fortified foods is often regulated and monitored. Read this application note to learn about a robust IC-PAD-based method developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific for the determination of iodide and iodate in soy- and milk-based infant formulas. Performed on a high-pressure IC system, this method has broad linear range (0.005–10 mg/L), high precisions (relative standard deviation <0.3% for retention time and <3% for peak area), and good recoveries.
