Development of EPA Method 539 Using UHPLC

11 Apr 2013

EPA Method 539 is a traditional High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method. It utilizes electrospray ionization and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) for the determination of hormones in finished drinking water. MS/MS in Multiple Reaction Monitoring mode is used to enhance selectivity. This poster paper presents the analytical work for the development of a UHPLC version of EPA Method 539 Determination of Hormones in Drinking Water by Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and Liquid Chromatography Electrospray Ionization Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) that met EPA’s specific targets for reporting levels, precision and accuracy.
