Direct Analysis of Opioids and Metabolites from Whole Blood Using Ostro Sample Preparation Plates and UPLC/MS/MS for Forensic Toxicology

9 Sept 2013

Forensic laboratories often analyze whole blood specimens for the presence of natural and synthetic opioids to determine cause of death. In the past, protocols called for GC/MS with enzymatic hydrolysis. Here, Waters presents a streamlined method using Ostro Sample Preparation Plates combined with UPLC/MS/MS for the direct analysis of 22 opioid compounds and glucuronide metabolites of interest in whole blood samples.
