Drug transporters: Emerging technologies
3 Aug 2014Drug transporters are increasingly being implicated as a source of drug-drug interactions (DDI) and potential organ-specific toxicity in humans. Consequently interactions with these membrane bound proteins are becoming ever more important to assess during drug development, as recent Regulatory draft guidance reflects. As a result, in vitro technology is rapidly advancing in the field of assessing drug transporter interactions and some of the major experimental approaches being adopted are discussed.
