It is a hallmark of over 50 different disease states, and its dysfunction is implicated in cancer, psoriasis, various eye diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and other autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases, coronary arterial diseases, stroke, atherosclerosis and impaired wound healing, among others.
