Fast Extraction of 10 Tricyclic Antidepressant Drugs from Urine using ISOLUTE® SLE+ Columns Prior to LC-MS-MS Analysis

5 Nov 2012

Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs) are prescribed for the clinical treatment of mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorders and can also be used in long-term pain management therapy. They work to prevent the re-uptake of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. The monitoring of TCA levels in patients is important to the continued prescribing of the drug and overall determination of patient response. In this application note the fast extraction and quantitation of 10 different antidepressant drugs in urine using ISOLUTE® SLE+ 1 mL columns from Biotage is described. ISOLUTE SLE+ Supported Liquid Extraction plates and columns offer an efficient alternative to traditional liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) for bioanalytical sample preparation, providing high analyte recoveries, no emulsion formation, and significantly reduced sample preparation time.
