Full-length 16S rRNA Gene Sequencing Using PacBio RS II

24 Jul 2017

The 16S rRNA gene exhibits an alternating structure of conserved and hypervariable regions which is commonly used for the identification of the bacterial composition of a variety of samples. INVIEW MICROBIOME High Specificity is based on the notion that with a length of about 1,500 base pairs, the full 16S rRNA gene is a perfect candidate for Single Molecule, Real-Time (SMRT) Sequencing with the PacBio RS II system. The current experimental design allows for multiplexing of up to 10 samples in a single SMRT Cell. With a data output of at least 25,000 Reads of Insert (ROI), the total price per sample is drastically reduced.
