High Throughput In Vitro Assessment of Cardiomyocyte Physiology Using iPSC Cells

12 Nov 2012

A large percentage of drugs fail in clinical studies due to cardiac toxicity; thus, sensitive in vitro assays which can evaluate potential adverse effects on cardiomyocytes are extremely important for drug development. This scientific poster demonstrates the advantages of a new technology for measuring the impact of pharmacological compounds on the beating rate and contraction profile of iCell cardiomyocytes from Cellular Dynamics International with kinetic imaging systems. A method is presented that could be well suited to safety testing and used to estimate efficacy and dosing of drug candidates prior to clinical studies.
