High-throughput mineral oil determination in water samples by automated in-vial extraction, clean-up, and on-line GC-FID analysis

In this application note, Thermo Fisher Scientific highlights automated high-throughput determination of mineral oil in water samples using in-vial extraction, clean-up, and on-line gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID) analysis. The process involves liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) with FLORISIL clean-up to remove polar components, followed by GC-FID analysis. Automation significantly improves efficiency, reducing labor, costs, and sample processing time. Additionally, the method demonstrates repeatability, robustness, linearity, and recovery within acceptable limits.
