How to Separate Methyl Salicylate from Wintergreen Oils by HPTLC

This application note illustrates a methodology suitable for the identification of wintergreen essential oil under standard HPTLC conditions, and which also enables the discrimination of synthetic methyl salicylate from impure oil samples.
