Multiplexed Assay for IL-6 Secretion and Cell Viability using an Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Cell Line

6 Apr 2014

Approximately 90% of diagnosed ovarian cancers are classified as “epithelial”. A common manifestation of EOC at this late stage of its progression is a build-up of fluid in the abdominal cavity (ascites). It has been shown that high levels of IL-6 are present in patients with ascites. In this application note, the authors demonstrate an in vitro microplate assay that can monitor IL-6 secretion from plated SKOV-3 ovarian carcinoma cells induced through EGFR ligand binding and NFkB activation.
