Novel Approach to Separating Amphetamine Enantiomers from Urine Using Lux® 3 μm AMP

25 Feb 2017

This application note describes an alternative method for quantification of amphetamine enantiomers from urine to off-line derivatization followed by GC/MS or LC/MS. The novel approach utilizes a Gemini® C18 trapping column and Lux 3 μm AMP analytical column to carry out the reversed phase separation of amphetamine and substituted amphetamines without the need for derivatization. This article highlights the benefits of this method over the traditional method, which include greater reliability, greater sample throughput and being less time-consuming.
