Parkinson's research resources

21 Nov 2020

Improved animal models of Parkinson’s disease (PD) are essential to advance our understanding of disease pathophysiology and testing of potential therapeutics. Researchers at The Jackson Laboratory are currently characterizing novel models in parallel with prominent existing mouse models of PD. Unlike most PD models developed to date, these will be available for use by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop and test potential therapies. Also available are “research tool” strains, including transgenics—expressing marker genes in affected brain regions—and strains with systems for regulating gene expression in specific neuron types.
