Synthetic Peptide-Acrylate Surfaces (PAS) For Long-Term Self-Renewal and Cardiomyocyte Differentiation of hESC in Defined Medium

13 Mar 2011

In this application poster, the development of fully synthetic surfaces for the culture of undifferentiated hESC and hESC derived cardiomyocytes is described. Peptide sequences derived from active domains of bone sialoprotein and vitronectin were covalently linked to the synthetic acrylate polymer surface to mimic biological ligands for cell adhesion. hESC pluripotency, self-renewal during long-term culture on PAS and the ability of PAS to support the differentiation of hESCs to cardiomyocytes was evaluated.
