The impact of FlowCam on biopharmaceutical development

11 May 2023

In this application note, Yokogawa Fluid Imaging Technologies discusses the utility and growing use of flow imaging microscopy (FIM) in the characterization and quantification of particles in biotherapeutics. The technology has been used in a variety of studies, including those related to the identification of elevated particle concentrations associated with more severe adverse events and the development of AI-based techniques to identify protein aggregates. Researchers have also combined FlowCam® with AI-based image analysis to determine cell viability. Recent studies have also reviewed particle characterization technologies and their applications in upcoming biotherapeutics, including cell and gene therapies.
