Toxicity Analysis of Hepatoxic Compounds in Primary Human Hepatocytes in 2D and 3D-Culture

16 Sept 2015

Primary hepatocytes are commonly used to study drug metabolism, enzyme induction and compound hepatoxicity. In monolayer cultures, differentiation processes lead to a severe and rapid loss of liver specific functions. This poster describes a new scaffold-free, organotype 3D human liver microtissue (hLiMT) model, to enable long-term toxicity testing. Microtissues from primary human hepatocytes and non-parenchymal cells (NPCs) were produced with the GravityPLUS production technology.
