Transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) with ThinCert cell culture inserts and the cellZscope system

In this application note, ThinCert^® cell culture inserts by Greiner Bio-One GmbH are highlighted for their ability to recreate in vivo-like growth conditions in vitro, facilitating the reconstruction of epithelia and endothelia from individual cells. Cultivated cell layers develop tissue-specific features such as tight junctions, cellular polarity, and barrier function, making them ideal for studying tissue-specific phenomena like vectorial transport. Impedance based analyses may hold promise for non-invasively assessing cellular properties correlated with altered conductivity or cell shape in the future.
