Understanding COVID-associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) typically causes milder symptoms in children than in adults. But in rare cases, the virus can produce multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in association with coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19).
