Use of Vericyte® Media Extends Lifespan of Primary Cells

This application note has shown that endothelial cells cultured in vericyte® Endothelial Cell Growth Medium could be grown for more than 20 population doublings (PD), whilst retaining their primary cell characteristics over the course of the expansion. The specific markers, CD31 and von Willebrand factor, were highly expressed in endothelial cells growing in vericyte® Endothelial Cell Growth Medium in all PDs tested and 90% of the endothelial cells over a PD of 20 were still negative for markers of senescence.
