Open Frame Microscopy: Olympus IX3 Series of Microscopes

Wolfgang Hempell, Olympus, explains how the open frame microscope concept on the IX3 generation of microscopes allows the user to customize the system in order to serve their own applications. Different components can be inserted into this modular system which enables the flexibility to combine several applications, such as the TIRF system.
