Spectroscopy tools in drug discovery and development
Conventional Raman methods rely specifically on data collected from back-scattering, which limits analysis of samples such as tablets and capsules to their surfaces. The surface is often not representative of the bulk in a tablet or capsule – even without coatings or capsule shells in the way. Transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) is a powerful method for the quantitative analysis of these types of sample. TRS probes the entire content through =10 mm of sample, enabling sensitive, accurate, and fast quantitative measurement of the whole object in one quick measurement.
Agilent Technologies offers a wide range of novel spectroscopic tools, which can be applied to aid drug discovery and development. One of these tools is the TRS100 system – a system that has been designed for rapid, non-destructive content uniformity testing.
In this webinar, join Dr. Julia Griffen and Darren Robey from Agilent Technologies to learn about high-resolution surface mapping using LaserDirect Infrared (LDIR), a surface mapping technique that uses a state-of-the-art quantum cascade laser to create exceptionally high-resolution images with unprecedented speed. Dr. Griffen will also reveal how the TRS100 analyzes whole intact tablets and capsules, including well plates, powder bags, and vials within a versatile sample tray system, as well as how this non-destructive analysis tool provides users with an efficient workflow, combined with the ability to analyze hundreds of samples within a single session.
Key learning objectives:
- Understand how transmission Raman spectroscopy can be used in drug discovery and development workflows
