The First Fully Integrated Single POCT Management System in Thailand

Bumrungrad International Hospital is a tertiary care private hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, housing around 580 beds. The hospital’s point-of-care testing (POCT) service has been implemented for decades, with its service and test volume growing significantly in recent years. In 2018, the hospital’s POCT service consisted of over 70 devices performing six tests and covering over 40 site units located in three buildings. The testing volume was about 400 test results per day performed by over 800 POCT users, most of them nurses. There was only one point-of-care coordinator (POCC) to manage and monitor the service of the systems to comply with world-class standards.

In this webinar, Chayanit Srihong, Senior Manager of the POCT and Referral laboratory Service will discuss how the POCT management team improved their POCT workflow to eliminate manual steps and pitfalls such as workload, result delay, user authorization delay, and revenue loss due to testing devices inability to connect to the hospital’s financial system. As a result, the POCT re-design project was initiated to find the right solution.

The audience will be able to

  • Describe common pitfalls of POCT operations
  • Explain the benefits of a good POCT management ecosystem
  • Discuss how to effectively implement POCT services
