Activity-dependent neuroprotector homeobox protein (ADNP) is a transcription factor that mediates neuroprotective effects. ADNP is widely expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, kidney and placenta. ADNP expression in brain is stronger in the cerebellum and cortex regions. ADNP expression is not detected in non-cancerous colon, but there is a strong increase of expression in colon cancer as well as in breast cancer.
