Description

CD70 is a 30-33 kD type II transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the TNF superfamily. CD70 is the ligand for CD27; the binding of which delivers costimulatory signals to T cells and NK cells. CD70 is expressed on highly activated lymphocytes characteristic of T- and B-cell lymphomas. Because normal lymphocytes have low CD70 expression, it has been suggested that anti-CD70 antibodies may be a possible treatment for CD70 positive lymphomas. CD70-specific antibodies are currently under investigation for the treatment of hematological malignancies and renal cell carcinoma.
