N-cadherin (CD325) is a calcium dependent cell adhesion protein. CD325 preferentially interacts with itself in a homophilic manner and contributes to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. CD325 may be involved in neuronal recognition mechanism. In hippocampal neurons CD325 regulates dendritic spine density.
