Description
Cdc2 (Cyclin-dependent kinase 1) plays a key role in the control of the eukaryotic cell cycle. Cdc2 is required in higher cells for entry into S-phase and mitosis. Cdc2 is a component of the kinase complex that phosphorylates the repetitive C-terminus of RNA polymerase II. The ability of Cdc2 to exercise control over the cell cycle is dependent upon the phosphorylation of Tyr15.
