Description
Arginine methylation is a very common post-translational modification that occurs predominantly in the nucleus. The main pool of proteins that are methylated displays RNA binding properties. Arginine methylation has been implicated in a variety of cellular processes, including protein trafficking, signal transduction and transcriptional regulation. Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) is also a naturally occurring chemical found in blood plasma as a metabolic by-product of continual protein methylation in cells. The antibody can be used for detection, quantitation, and isolation of proteins with methylated arginine residues (asymmetric dimethylation).
