Description
Ephrin ligands, which bind ephrin receptors, play a role in cell migration and neural crest development. Binding of ephrin ligands to the ephrin B receptor blocks the dorsolateral migration of early-migrating neural crest cells. Conversely, ephrin B receptor signaling stimulates the dorsolateral migration of melanocytes. Collectively, research has shown that ephrin ligands are involved in the appropriate trafficking of migrating cells during neuronal development. Phosphorylation of Tyr317 plays a key role in EphrinB signaling.
