Description
HDAC3 is a class I histone deacetylase (HDAC) involved in regulating gene expression as part of multi-subunit protein complexes that repress transcription. HDAC3 catalyzes the removal of acetyl groups from the ε-amino group of lysine residues in histones and other cellular proteins. As part of the SMRT and NCoR repressor complexes, HDAC3 is recruited by DNA-binding proteins to various genes to repress transcription.
