Description
Histone H3 is one of the core components of the nucleosome, the basic building block of chromatin. Methylation of histone H3 at lysine 4 is linked to transcriptional activation through the recruitment of a number of downstream effector proteins (CHD1, Isw1, ING2, WDR5). At least one protein that selectively binds histone H3 trimethylated at lysine 4 has also been reported (NURF301). Trimethyl lysine 4 is enriched at the transcriptional start site of activated genes. Lysine 4 methylation is dependant upon the monoubiquitylation of the C-terminus of histone H2A.

ChIP and IF
Its an amazing antibody and highly specific. The background is very minimal. I tried indifferent cell types in my project which still gave the same results. I generally go by the validated antibody for ChIPseq purpose, this was already validated by active motif which I can see the results in my hand too.

ChIP-seq, ChIP
Used in ChIP and ChIP-seq at 1ug/0.5M cells. Very sensitive while still keeping the background very low. Very reproducible as well. The PCR enrichments of positive regions over negative are often above thousand fold. We have been using it for over a year regularly and never had any problems - it is now used in our lab as the positive control during method development.
