Description
The HMG (high mobility group) proteins are nonhistone chromosomal proteins. High mobility group protein B1 (HMGB1) is an abundant component of all mammalian nuclei. HMGB1 binds preferentially single-stranded DNA and unwinds double-stranded DNA.
